There has been an incredible amount of important announcements coming out of CES and here's what they're not telling you. There are big things on the horizon for the Playstation Portable in '08 based on what I thought I heard, maybe...

Number 5

Sony, desperate to enter the automotive market, will enable the Playstation Portable to run diagnostics on your car's engine. Think of the PSP as the Tricorder of the automotive industry. You'll be thanking Sony for saving you a ton of money on car repairs.

Number 4

Edible PSP cartridges. Sony is always trying to find ways to be a good global citizen and will introduce cartridges never to end up in a landfill. These special UMD game and movie cartridges will be used to upload the content directly to a memory stick before human consumption.

Number 3

Downloading content directly from your brain. The engineers at SCEA will soon implement an attachment for the PSP unit allowing connectivity from the handheld to your brain and vice-versa. Small, circular, adhesive electrodes similar to those used to monitor your heart, will simply stick to the forehead of the user and they will be able to download their thoughts directly to their PSP. You'll never have a song stuck in your head again - simply download to your PSP.

Human batteries. This is not the Matrix. However, batteries will be a thing of the past thanks to human touch battery technology or HTBT. This incredible new technology will enable energy to transfer the fingertips of a PSP user harnessing the energy of the human body. Considering the amount of time PSP game players clutch their favorite handheld units, the only concern is that some players may lose too much energy from their bodies threatening to shut down vital organs.

PSP will convert to a hoverboard. You heard me Olivia Munn, a hoverboard. Years in the making, this difficult conversion will be possible thanks to cooperation between Playstation Portable designers and developers, and top special effects masters from several of Hollywood film studios. With the push of a few buttons (and a $20,000,000 conversion package sold separately) PSP owners will be flying inches above the ground. Can you say the biggest thing to happen, ever? As much as I'd love for the PSP to turn into a hoverboard, reality has me hoping the folks at SCEA will somehow give us the opportunity to use the PSP as a high-end e-reader. Everything is there and all they need now is a crack developer to make it happen. So, we at PSP World would love to know what you think is on the horizon for Playstation Portable? "Bite Sized" Games Coming to PSP and More

One criticism I have towards games on the PSP is that a lot of them are ports of console games. While it's great that I can play a lot of my PS2 games on a go, a grand majority of those games aren't the ideal type of games to be playing in 5 minute interval. (with Tekken currently being the only game in my collection that's ideal on the go.)
Thankfully, Sony just announced that they're planning on bringing "bite sized" games to the PSP, which seems to suit the system more than, lets say, Metal Gear Solid. They're also going to re-release older PSP titles for those of us new PSP owners who want to experience the greatness of Lumines but can't seem to find the game anywhere.

Japan Gets A Colorful Debut Of Six New PSP Slims

I know you probably thought the revealing of the slim PSP was all that Sony had to offer, but be amazed as Sony just revealed to our Japanese friends that they will receive three new additional colors for the new slim line. That's right so they will have six choices to choose from! Rose Pink, Lavender, Purple, and Felicia Blue will add to the already Black, White and Silver colors. Even though this has only been announced for Japan let's hope that American PSP lovers will get some of this PSP colour variety love. If not we will just import the colours anyway lol.

The new slim line PSP's will not be released until this September, but before that you are in for a little treat. Just in the making for the 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy Sony will be releasing the new Special Edition Final Fantasy Crisis Core Slim PSP. This FF Crisis Core PSP will be released before the other slim lines and will feature as a bundle. This bundle will include the FF Crisis Core silver PSP with logo, colored buttons, and a serial number. Wait there's more! You will also receive a copy of Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core game with a keychain shaped like Clouds sword. Sounds like a sweet deal to me. So just sit back because this bonus will hit shelves a week before the actual launch of the Slim PSP's. Either way get a seat early for this release only a limited number of over 70,000 will be released and will cost about 25,890 yen which is $212 for us western folk. We shall keep you posted stay frosty!
